Before and after acne treatment

What is acne?

Your skin is covered in follicles, each of which acts as a tiny channel into the deeper layers of the skin. At the base of each follicle lies a hair root, which creates the cells that form hair.

Follicles allow the oil in your skin to reach the outermost layer, helping to hydrate both skin and hair. Dead skin cells and other debris exit your follicles.

Acne develops when a hair follicle becomes clogged with a mixture of oil and skin cells. Bacteria begin to multiply in the clogged follicle, creating swelling, redness, and discomfort.

When should I seek acne treatments?

Everyone experiences occasional breakouts, but when these blemishes become large, painful, or make it difficult to feel confident about the appearance of your skin, it may be time to seek help.

Acne isn’t just a temporary aesthetic issue. Some forms create scarring that can damage your skin for the rest of your life. Whether you have active acne or old scarring, treatments can help.

What kinds of acne treatments are available?

A thorough skin assessment determines the extent of acne and scarring. Some treatments help reduce the frequency or severity of breakouts, while others focus on improving the appearance of scars.

This treatment uses tiny sterile needles to create thousands of channels into the deeper layers of skin. Your body improves blood flow to the area and increases cellular turnover. Newly produced collagen plumps and tightens your skin.

Applying EGF-DNA Epidermal Growth Factor Serum and vitamin C during microneedling helps these products penetrate deeply. Incorporating platelet-rich plasma (PRP) into the microneedling process adds a multitude of growth factors to further promote new collagen development while reducing inflammation.

This injectable dermal filler smooths acne scars by adding a mix of collagen and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres to the area directly beneath the depressed scarring. The filler plumps and smooths skin to create a more uniform skin texture.

Dermabrasion manually removes the outermost layer of skin cells, revealing a layer of fresh and healthy skin. In addition to eliminating mild acne scarring, dermabrasion can also improve areas of hyperpigmentation.

Chemical peels

Medical-grade chemical peels use a powerful solution to exfoliate layers of dead skin, creating softer skin that looks plump and youthful. There are many types and strengths of chemical peels to choose from.
